Mayor brings festive cheer to Holy Cross during Christmas visit
Holy Cross Hospital was filled with festive spirit on Monday (15 December) when the Mayor of Haslemere, Councillor Jean Arrick visited the hospital to judge the annual Christmas decorations competition.
During her visit, the Mayor toured the wards and met patients and staff. Whilst on her walkabout, she also judged the highly creative decorations on display throughout the hospital and chose the winning entries for the Best Dressed Patient Door, Best Decorated Department and Best Eco Decoration.
Frances Campion-Smith, Chief Executive at Holy Cross accompanied the Mayor of Haslemere and said: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and to provide her with an insight into the work we do in neurorehabilitation and general rehabilitation.
“Activities play a significant role in a patient’s rehabilitation journey, so we were very proud to show her decorations made by patients working independently and together with their families. Christmas is a very inclusive time of year at Holy Cross and I think the festive displays reflect the warmth, care and community spirit that can be found here.”
After completing the judging, the Mayor joined patients and their families in the communal lounge for a cheerful rendition of Jingle Bells, followed by a cup of tea and the chance to meet more of Holy Cross’s 42 patients.
Speaking after the visit, the Mayor praised the creativity and commitment shown by everyone involved, and thanked staff for their dedication to creating a welcoming and uplifting environment for patients and their families during Christmas.
