Time capsule to be buried in wall
Staff have contributed letters that they have written to future nurses, photographs, a calendar that includes paintings by patients, a menu card, a pager and other items that provide an insight into hospital life in 2016.
The time capsule was presented by Sister Mary Agnes Trustee at Holy Cross Hospital, Richard who has taken a great interest in the construction project and longest serving employee Abraham Azizi to Les Davies from Strongbond Construction.
The capsule, which is the size of a breeze block will be built into the wall in the entrance of the new education centre.
In handing over the time capsule, Sister Mary Agnes spoke about the great importance of ensuring that all staff have access to learning and development. She said “There is a tradition within the Congregation of valuing education for all. Our foundress, Blessed Marie-Therese Haze, was a teacher in Liege in Belgium and to this day the Congregation continues to be involved in schools and colleges.
“It is essential that we continue providing opportunities for staff in our Hospitals to learn and improve their knowledge and skill. We expect the new building will make a great contribution to our staff and will enable us to share the learning process with others.”
The new building will provide conference and learning facilities on the ground floor and office and stores on the first floor. It is anticipated that the building will be completed in the spring of 2017.
